Meeting with Paul 31/7/19

Updated: Sep 3, 2019

New direction on how to display and present the evidences I collected from my interviewers:

I'm having difficulties to connect my women together, to have them meeting each other or meeting me more than few times, having the power of community or a group, but having my idea to direct their stories, my narrative to their tales, ideas and my reflection on their feelings, behaviour, experiences and memories.

How to connect the stories and create a new story from the existed ones:One woman start a story and another woman add her idea to it, or start her story as a continuous of the previous story or a new direction to a different story

Use variety on media: photos, video, music, writing, texts, speech and connect all of them in a quilt.

New ideas to follow:

Israel as an on going project - when we are referring to Israel, we cannot ignore the occupied territories as being outside of Israel but still consider part of it by the government. Mothers are supposed to raise their children believing that they supposed to go to the army and sacrifice their life for the good of the country which is something that it completely against my beliefs. The educational system in Israel teaches the children from young age to be strong, show no fear, the enemy wants to kill us but we shall overcome and concur.

I started working on a piece of art that capture the map of Israel with and without the occupied territories played in rorschach images test.

More explicit, testimonial tolerance, try to see how to reorient the project with testimonies exchange stories, exchange experiences, artefacts.

Chain stories - one woman start telling her story and the next one continue it or follow it or tell her own in respect to it or just tell her story without relation to the first one and I should make the connection between the stories.

Share the stories with variety of media - photos, sounds, video, text, recorded messages etc

I should connect the testimonies, the stories, sounds and images and create my idea of the story, create an evidence of the experience, connect the stories without an actual connection between the women.

What is my question? what do I want to do? could it be a bit much to believe I can "HELP" without having the right therapeutic tools? After consulting with an expert, I feel that the "help" direction is putting me under pressure as well as the women I interview. The questions are very personal and the journey is very private and confident, and it can generate bad feeling for the women who are being interviewed and provoke them even to withdraw from participating in the project.

I would like to rephrase my question:

I would like to leave an impression, get in touch, make an impact, generate sensation, generate thinking, create an awareness, develop new ideas.

I should not come from the perspective of me helping people:

1. It can make women close up instead of opening up toward my ideas.

2. I don't have (yet) the knowledge to actually help women coping with hardship in therapeutic ways, since I didn't study psychology or social studies as my background.

3. I don't know if these women are actually seeking for help - It's something that should come from them and there is no way to rush the process, they need to be ready to receive help, they might not want to be advise how to behave etc.

Using the mindfulness perspective I've been practicing for a while, allow me to rethink this idea with realisation that our current action do come from initial memories and sensations and patterns we were using in the past, but for us to heal our pain we should approach our minds without looking for anything special, just be, breath, feel, be aware, awake, connect to the moment.

sense of wakefulness and presence

attention inwards at this moment

without trying to change or improve anything, just notice, observe

not looking for anything special, just trying to be open to whatever arises
