F told me about a song that was very emotional to her:
I try by Macy Grey
She reflected on it in her interview, she lived in London for couple of years, and decided to move back to Israel. She was in her mid thirties, she had a partner in London and moved to London to be with him, and they got separated during the first year of her living here. She decided to stay in London because she fell in love with the city, but after few years, she had another partner who didn't want to have children, and she wanted to have children, so she had to be very rational with her decision, and decided that she had better chance and support in Israel to become a mother then to stay here in London. Taking into consideration that fact that she passed her mid thirties and she is willing to become a mother with or without a partner.
She decided to move back to Israel, and few nights before she went back, she was already packed, and shipped most of her things, she went to see Macy Grey with her partner and felt very emotion listening to this song - she felt Macy is telling her story in her song, F wanted to go back to Israel but she loves her partner and London very much and doesn't want to leave them. It was very hard for her to leave.
Every time she listen to this song she remember the dilemma she had and the decision she took, the sacrifice she made and how sad she felt about it.
After interviewing F, I decided to create my own interpretation of F situation, what she felt and how I felt about what she said.
I used a black cord to write the specific lyrics from the song that F felt emotional about, in a cursive writing, that seem more british and graphic way to display the words.
After the word "choke" I left the cord, as she had the option to metaphorically be choked or felt choked from the situation she was in. I tied the cord together with a badge that has the british flag on it, since she claim most of her sadness became from leaving London and not just her partner.
I sent her this photo of my creative interpretation of the song and she responded that she loves it and she is about to cry. I asked her why does it make her want to cry? and she answer that it made her very emotional, longing, missing, nostalgic, not as a bad thing, just emotional from the jester and the memories it bring to her.
