I would like to interview women during or after relocation/immigration, that experience hardship during their relocation/immigration and how they deal and (try to) overcome the hardship while relocating.
In this research I'm using the interview methods and the feminist research - I think these 2 elements are more relevant to me
I started with a post in a FB group made for Israeli women in relocation. I asked for women to share with me their hardship experience during relocation. I received so far about 20 responses and already interviewed 6 of them.
I will upload their stories in a separate post.
My primary research is conducted on Israeli women that are/were relocated.
I would like to focus on the UK, but for the initial data I used Israeli women from all over the world (mostly, US and UK thus).
I'm going to meet Maya Gur this week - She is an Israeli woman who lives in London, she comes from a journalism background and following her family relocation to London she transforms her life and now she is doing mostly coaching and support for Israeli women during their relocation.
I'm going to interview her on her new career change, what brought her to that, her revelations from this new career and supporting Israeli women in London.
Next interviews and focus:
Galia
Maya S
Carmela
Paula
Sivan - Telephone interview this evening. New questions:
Connection to Israel - nostalgic, romantic VS never coming back
Sensory:
connection to smell, senses - music from the guitar, relations to food - losing/gaining weight, meditation - peace and quite/group sessions
tree of life - London
Artists that explore immigration - I was in touch with Ceyda Oskay and waiting for her to get back to me with some answers to my questions.
I send an email to Somerset with some questions to Hanna Moon and Joyce Ng and waiting to hear back from them. This is more of a long shot since I'm not sure they will receive my mail. I sent them also DM in IN.
As part of my research and focusing more on Israeli women in relocation or migration, I read the book (the name is translated by me from Hebrew) - Stowaway by Ortal Slobodin. I send her a message via FB and didn't get any response from her yet.
